Artists Statement: My vision for this project was to convey all of the different passions I have in my life. Having passions is personally very important to me. I decided to focus on prominent pops of color for this project because vibrancy contributes to the overarching theme of passion and vivacity. I have a wide array of things I am passionate about and I wished to express the most important passions through this project: activism, my family, friendship, nature, art, makeup, mindfulness, and learning.
STILL LIFE
My intention for this project was to create a still life photograph within the category of: monochrome. I chose to centralize the photo around the color red. As the photo was created, I noticed after the fact that it also displayed a theme: female adolescence. This was not my original intention yet it was a happy accident because I am satisfied with expressing that theme in a monochrome style.
PRE AND POST LIGHTROOM PROJECT
PRE: POST:
This project's intent was to demonstrate my skills with Adobe Lightroom editing software. I wanted the images to look more vibrant and clear. I wanted to enhance the important colors of each image: the orange of the rose hips, the green of the leaf, the yellows and greens of the plants, the red in the houses. The last image is abstract. I softened the lines of the image and greatly enhanced the color to create a sort of "lucid dream" feeling when observing it.
PORTRAIT PROJECT Subject: Kevin McNamara (my father)
The intention of this project was to portray my father in a very realistic and natural way. Two out of the photos portray him in a everyday, regular setting. Those photos are the one of him diving and him reading. I chose to do the reading photograph in B&W because he often only has time to read at night because he works all day, I thought the B&W conveyed a late-night feel. The others portray him in his natural habitat: the forest. I thought it was important to show him in that context because it is such a core part of who he is.
